There are now 29 bars or restaurants that have been connected to COVID-19 outbreaks since dine-in service was allowed to resume in Minnesota June 10.  It's an increase from the 19 establishments that were linked to outbreaks in late July.

In Minnesota, an outbreak is defined as 7 or more cases at an establishment, with every establishment named by the Minnesota Department of Health meeting the threshold for patrons likely contracting the virus while at the bar or restaurant.

Since the Department of Public Safety sent warning letters to 14 establishments for breaching COVID-19 rules concerning mask-wearing, distancing and capacity rules, there have no further substantiated complaints announced about bars and restaurants breaching the rules.

And a health department spokesperson said they are "moving away from providing numbers" of cases linked to bars in the future "since many simply are not accurate given the rate of transmission."

However, the locations listed in the information provided to Bring Me The News does include the number of cases connected to specific places.

The 10 establishments that are new to the list include:

  • Los Grandes – Burnsville – 32 cases
  • Crave – Minneapolis (Downtown) – 24 cases
  • 4th Street Saloon – Minneapolis – 14 cases
  • American Legion Post 145 – Howard Lake – 11 cases
  • VFW Post 9433 – Rosemount – 14 cases
  • Texas Roadhouse – Coon Rapids – 15 cases
  • Fogo de Chao – Minneapolis – 20 cases
  • Billy's on Grand – St. Paul – 15 cases (Note: Billy's is contesting the MDH figures)
  • Graze – Minneapolis (North Loop) – 22 cases
  • The Saloon – Minneapolis (Downtown) – 24 cases

The 19 bars/restaurants that were previously named include:

  • Rounders – Mankato – 118 cases
  • The Pickled Loon – St. Cloud – 117 cases
  • Cowboy Jack's – Minneapolis – 78 cases
  • The 507 – Mankato – 70 cases
  • The Underground – Mankato – 67 cases
  • The Kollege Klub – Minneapolis – 69 cases
  • The Loop – Minneapolis (North Loop) – 66 cases
  • Sally's – Minneapolis – 49 cases
  • Dooley's Pub – Rochester – 39 cases
  • Stella's Fish Cafe – Minneapolis – 44 cases
  • Union Rooftop & Bar – Minneapolis – 40 cases
  • Lord Fletcher's – Spring Park – 38 cases
  • Uptown Tavern – Minneapolis – 36 cases
  • Maynard's – Excelsior – 42 cases
  • The Pourhouse – Minneapolis (Uptown) – 29 cases
  • Seven Steakhouse – Minneapolis – 31 cases
  • Moonlight Bay – Cross Lake – 20 cases
  • CoV – Wayzata – 18 cases
  • City Club Bar – New Prague – 15 cases

Bars, restaurants, breweries and other establishments were allowed to reopen indoors at limited capacity more than two months ago, with Gov. Tim Walz ordering that all employees must wear masks at all times, while customers have table seating limits and are supposed to wear masks any time they are not eating or drinking.

As well as disputing the MDH figures, Billy's on Grand says it "took the necessary steps to shut down operations, clean and sanitize the place, and required that all employees test negative before they came back to work."
