Police arrested a second suspect believed to be involved in the robbery of a 75-year-old woman who was choked until she passed out during a home invasion over the weekend.

Maplewood police said in a news release a 23-year-old Minneapolis woman was arrested late Wednesday following a traffic stop in Minneapolis and was taken into custody "without incident."

Investigators believe on Jan. 2, the suspect rang the victim's doorbell and asked to use her phone, before pointing a gun at her and entering the victim's home.

Minutes later, two men arrived and entered as well. One man bound her hands, while the others "ransacked" her home – taking jewelry, credit cards, keys and her driver's license, police say.

Before they left the house, one of the male suspects told the woman to get on the floor before he wrapped an article of clothing around her neck and strangled her "to the point of unconsciousness."

1 suspect charged

The female suspect is the second person to be arrested in connection with the robbery. The first suspect, 25-year-old Deandre Vershawn Wims, was arrested and later charged with felony financial transaction card fraud, the release says.

According to the criminal complaint:

Wims is suspected of using the credit cards of at least two recent robbery victims, including the 75-year-old woman.

When he was arrested following a traffic stop Tuesday, investigators searched the vehicle he was in and recovered items belonging to a woman whose house was burglarized on Dec. 29, 2015.

Investigators listened to a jail call Wims made to a female on Jan. 5. They discussed the surveillance images shown on the news and Wims asked if it looked like him. The female said, "Mother [expletive], that is you."

In a later call, Wims said, "That's all they got me for is the fraud."

The burglaries are still under investigation.

Officers are also "actively seeking" the third suspect, whose identity isn't known to investigators, the release notes.
