The stretch of violence that's hit north Minneapolis this month continued over the weekend with two separate stabbing incidents that resulted in one death and two other injuries, WCCO reports.

Police were called early Sunday morning to North Aldrich Avenue on a report of a stabbing. The victim was taken to the hospital for injuries and is expected to recover, police say.

The stabbing followed an earlier incident early Sunday, where one man was stabbed to death in the 3600 block of Emerson Avenue North, the Star Tribune reported.

Police officials reportedly found two men inside a residence who had been stabbed, and one of them was pronounced dead on the scene. The other man was taken to North Memorial Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Officials say the North Aldrich and Emerson Avenue stabbings were not random or connected, WCCO reported.

The violence comes about a week after a rash of incidents plagued north Minneapolis over the Fourth of July holiday weekend. Two people were killed and at least three more injured after three separate shootings in north Minneapolis July 4 and 5. Two people were also stabbed early Sunday, but survived.

In addition, three more people were injured in a shooting in the area of North 36th Avenue and Freemont Avenue North last Wednesday. All the victims are expected to recover.

The shootings happened hours after Minneapolis Police Chief Janee Harteau made a personal plea for peace while walking the beat in north Minneapolis.

According to WCCO, Minneapolis Police say the patrol focus on north Minneapolis will not affect their concentration on All-Star Game festivities this week. Authorities say a large police presence will be on duty downtown for All-Star Game activities, the station says.
