Three people found dead in a home in Becker County earlier this week have been identified by the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office as a 28-year-old woman and her two children, according to the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.
The three have been identified as 28-year-old Emma LaRoque, 9-year-old Shane Woods and 4-year-old Frederick York.
LaRoque's cause of death has been determined to be from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, with two children dying of homicidal violence, according to the BCA and medical examiner.
Police were called to a home off of Hwy. 34 in rural Ogema to a report of a "possible incident" on Monday, and upon arrival the bodies were discovered.
The Detroit Lakes Tribune has reported that the victims are the daughter and grandchildren of the White Earth Director of Public Safety, Michael LaRoque. This was confirmed by a member of the White Earth Tribal Council, the newspaper notes, though it has yet to be officially confirmed by any of the investigating authorities.
Authorities say there is no threat to the public and the BCA's investigation is ongoing.
