3 metro firms on Forbes list of trustworthy companies

Forbes put three Minnesota companies on its list of "America's 100 Most Trustworthy Companies," the Business Journal reports.

The magazine recognized companies for transparency in accounting and minimizing risk.

The largest Twin Cities company to earn a spot on the list was Patterson Cos., which makes dental and veterinary supplies and equipment.

Apogee Enterprise, which makes architectural glass, and Hawkins, which makes specialty chemicals, were also recognized.

Meanwhile, two major Minnesota retailers are once again among the most valuable brands for 2013, according to Interbrand's annual list of “Best Retail Brands."

Twin Cities Business says Minneapolis-based Target Corp. ranked second with a "brand value" of $25.1 billion -- up 7 percent from the previous year.

Richfield-based Best Buy Co. Inc. fell to No. 13 with its value tumbling 52 percent to $8.1 billion.

Arkansas-based Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. maintained its No. 1 ranking with a brand value of more than $141 billion.
