About 3,000 residents, mostly in the western suburbs, on Tuesday morning lost power as thunderstorms skidded across the state. The power outages were reported in Minnetonka, Orono, Long Lake, Plymouth, Woodland and Wayzata, Patch reports. There was street flooding in Eagan, FOX 9 reported.

One to 2 inches of rain fell Tuesday morning in parts of the Twin Cities metro from the "quickie storms," FOX 9 reported.

A second round of Tuesday storms is possible in much of the eastern and southern parts of the state in the late afternoon Tuesday into the evening, WCCO reports. There's a 30 percent chance of thunderstorms in the metro Tuesday and Tuesday night, the National Weather Service says.

Overnight, cooler, drier air will settle over the state, forecasters say. A high of 81 is expected Wednesday in the Twin Cities, the National Weather Service says.

It'll be mostly pleasant Wednesday and Thursday in much of the state, forecasters say. There's another chance for storms this weekend, KARE 11 reports.
