4 charged in Fridley stabbing assault

Two men and two women were formally charged Tuesday in a stabbing assault in Fridley over the weekend.

Two victims are still in critical condition at Hennepin County Medical Center several days after the attack, WCCO reports. Police say Anthony McCollum, of Hilltop, and Yani Singh, of Columbia Heights, both 21, were stabbed inside a car early Saturday morning.

Investigators say that on Friday night they had been at Two Stooges Sports Bar in Fridley with two 22-year-old women now charged in the case, Tiffani Ivy, of St. Paul, and Leanne Todd, of Minneapolis.

Ivy and Todd had asked McCollum and Singh if they could get a ride to University Avenue and Mississippi Street, and when the two men obliged, they were met by two other men, who attacked them as part of a robbery plot, according to a criminal complaint.

Investigators say Ivy and Todd then ran off with the two male suspects, now identified as Marcus Fultz, 20, of Woodbury, and Kevin Moore, 25, of Spring Lake Park. Fultz and Moore deny involvement in the incident, WCCO reports.

But police suspect that the four conspired to rob the two victims and that the women lured the two into an ambush. Criminal complaints indicate Ivy eventually admitted the plot to police, although she had changed her story during police questioning.

McCollum told police they managed to flee the attack, although Singh was not responsive when police arrived.

The stabbings happened less than a week after Moore completed a sentence stemming from a first-degree aggravated robbery conviction in Anoka County in 2011, the Star Tribune notes.

"This is a very serious crime and we are pursuing the investigation vigorously," Anoka County Attorney Tony Palumbo said.

There are now 20 charges pending against the four. Moore and Fultz are charged with one count of first degree attempted murder “while committing or attempting to commit aggravated robbery,” the criminal complaint says.

The four have court dates scheduled next month.
