4 congressional debates to be held this week

With three weeks to Election Day, candidates are beginning a sprint to the finish line. The races feature four congressional debates in Minnesota this week, in the 3rd, 4th, 7th and 8th Congressional Districts. In the 8th, where Republican Rep. Chip Cravaack and DFL challenger Rick Nolan are locked in one of the most hotly contested races in the nation, the two candidates will meet at high noon Tuesday at Anoka Ramsey Community College. It's open to the public.

With three weeks to Election Day, candidates are beginning a sprint to the finish line. The races feature four congressional debates in Minnesota this week, in the 3rd, 4th, 7th and 8th Congressional Districts, MPR reports.

In the 8th, where Republican Rep. Chip Cravaack and DFL challenger Rick Nolan are locked in one of the most hotly contested races in the nation, the two candidates will meet at high noon Tuesday at Anoka Ramsey Community College. It's open to the public. More money continues to pour into that race, the Star Tribune reports Monday.

In the 3rd, the Edina and Eden Prairie Chambers of Commerce are hosting an 11:30 a.m. Thursday debate at the Interlachen Country Club between GOP Rep. Erik Paulsen and Democrat Brian Barnes. Chamber members pay $25; others pay $35.

The League of Women Voters Minnesota is hosting a 4th Congressional District debate featuring DFL Rep. Betty McCollum, Republican Tony Hernandez and Independence Party candidate Steve Carlson. It's at 7 p.m. Monday night at North High School in North St. Paul.

Prairie Public Television will broadcast the 7th District debate between Republican Lee Byberg and DFL Rep. Collin Peterson at 8 p.m. Tuesday.
