4 fatal crashes on Minnesota roads since Friday

There have been 278 deaths on Minnesota roads so far in 2020.

There have been four fatal crashes reported law enforcement throughout Minnesota since Friday afternoon. 

At 8:02 p.m. Saturday, the Anoka County Sheriff's Office and multiple nearby agencies responded to a motorcycle crash on the 20000 block fo Cedar Drive NW near the railroad tracks in Oak Grove. On arrival, responders found a man who had been critically injured in the crash. 

Life-saving measures were attempted but the man was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The sheriff's office says he was driving a Harley Davidson south on Cedar Drive NW before the crash, which remains under investigation. The victim's identity has not been released. 

Wabasha County fatal crash

There have been at least three other fatal crashes in Minnesota since Friday, including a single motorcycle accident in Wabasha County on Saturday. 

The State Patrol reports that it happened just before 3 p.m. when a motorcyclist was westbound on Hwy. 60 when he lost control near 287th Ave. and crashed. The man's name has not been released, though the State Patrol partially identified him as a 61-year-old from Wanamingo, Minnesota. 

Fatal crash near Northfield

On Friday, one driver was killed when four vehicles were involved in a crash near Northfield. The crash happened Friday evening on I-35 at Hwy. 19, with the State Patrol reporting that the driver of a Mini Cooper, 55-year-old Michael R. Bendel-Stenzel, suffering fatal injuries. 

Two passengers in the Mini Cooper were taken to HCMC with non-critical injuries, while two women in a Chevy Trailblazer were transported to Fairbault Hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening. Occupants of two other vehicles involved in the crash weren't injured. 

Fatal crash Wright County

A fourth fatal crash happened Friday afternoon when a Bloomington man driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee east on Hwy. 55 collided with a westbound semi near 10th St. SE in Wright County. 

George E. Kline, 84, of Bloomington, died in the crash. A 73-year-old passenger in the Jeep suffered non-critical injuries and was taken to HCMC for care. The semi driver was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. 

According to the state's office of traffic safety, there have been 278 deaths on Minnesota roads so far in 2020. That's up from 258 at the same point last year.
