5 taken to hospital after escalator pileup in Duluth
Four children and an adult were taken to a hospital when several tots got nervous about stepping off an escalator and caused a human pileup at the downtown Wells Fargo building, WDIO TV reports. One of the children had a "substantial" ankle injury, and others were treated for minor cuts and scrapes, Northland's Newscenter reported.
Police got a call shortly after 1 p.m. Wednesday about as many as 20 people stuck on an escalator at the downtown Wells Fargo building, and they arrived to find multiple injuries, the news stations reported.
The children had been with daycare providers and had been holding on to a rope on the descending escalator, WDIO reported.
