40-year-old Iron Range man arrested in fatal stabbing

A 40-year-old man has been arrested in connection to the fatal stabbing of a woman on the Iron Range. 

The Virginia Police Department said a man called 911 around 2:19 a.m. Wednesday saying he stabbed someone in his apartment and they might be dead, KBJR 6 says

Police responded to his apartment at 104 5th St. S, where they found a woman with multiple stab wounds to her head and neck. She was pronounced dead at the scene, the Duluth News Tribune says.

The suspect, a 40-year-old Virginia man, left before police arrived, reports state. 

He was later arrested. According to jail records, he was booked into jail at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday. 

The victim has not yet been identified. Police haven't released any details about what led to the stabbing or how the victim and suspect knew one another.
