Five Minnesotans will be among the 100 home cooks competing for $1 million in the 47th annual Pillsbury Bake-Off Contest.

Competitors submitted original recipes that used only seven ingredients, including two or more different eligible products (Pillsbury, Green Giant and Crisco brand products), and had to be able to be made in 30 minutes.

The list of contest finalists was announced Thursday.

“The creative recipes that advanced to the contest finals demonstrate that great tasting dinners, breakfasts, appetizers and desserts do not have to be difficult to make," Jann Atkins, Bake-Off Kitchens manager, said, according to Taste of General Mills blog.

The 100 finalists will compete for more than $1 million in cash and prizes at the Pillsbury Bake-Off Contest in Nashville, Tennessee, on Nov. 3. Judges scores and, for the first time ever, a public vote will determine the winner.

There's also a chance to win various other awards, including the Pillsbury Gluten-Free Award and the Clever Twist Award to recognize the finalist with the recipe deemed the most clever twist on a family favorite dish.

The finalists

The finalists hail from 32 states and range in age from 28 to 89 – the competition has an interactive map of all the winners.
