Update: Man hurt when truck crashed into Zimmerman business has died

It went "30-40 feet through the interior ... before coming to rest."

One of the people hurt this week when a truck slammed into a Minnesota business has now died of his injuries.

The driver in the crash, 63-year-old Robert Allen Johnson of Zimmerman, Minnesota, has been charged with criminal vehicular operation and drunk driving

David Elliot, 51, was inside Reliant Systems, Inc. in Zimmerman when Johnson's truck plowed through the wall of the business on Monday. He had to be airlifted to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale, where he died on Wednesday, KSTP reports.

It's not yet clear if prosecutors will up their charges against Johnson because of Elliot's death.

5 people hurt when truck crashes into company in Zimmerman, MN

At least one person is critically injured after a pickup truck plowed through the wall of a business in Zimmerman, Minnesota.

A total of five people were hurt when the 1999 Chevy Tahoe smashed into Reliant Systems, Inc. early Monday afternoon, according to a news release from the Sherburne County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities believe alcohol was involved in the accident, so the 63-year-old driver of the truck was arrested and booked for Criminal Vehicular Operation (GoMN typically does not name suspects until they are formally charged with a crime).

The release says the Tahoe was traveling eastbound on Fremont Avenue when it left the roadway at about 1 p.m., slamming into the building that houses Reliant Systems and continuing "another 30-40 feet through the interior of the business before coming to rest."

Two of the employees working inside had to be airlifted to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale, while two others were taken to a hospital by ground ambulance.

A fifth person was driven to the hospital by "a private party" and later released, the sheriff's office says.

FOX 9 says the driver of the Tahoe suffered minor injuries as well.
