Multiple people were injured following three overnight shootings in Minneapolis Sunday.

Five people were injured in two shootings that occurred about an hour apart in downtown Minneapolis Sunday. Investigators say it is still too early to determine if these two incidents are related, but police say they don't appear to be random, officials said in a news release.

In the first incident, officers on foot patrol in the area of North 4th Street and Hennepin Avenue heard multiple gunshots at 2:07 a.m. and then saw a crowd of people flee the area on foot.

Police found two people, both male, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. They were transported to Hennepin County Medical Center, one with "very serious" injuries, the other with non-life threatening injuries.

The ages and identities of these victims is not known.

In the second incident, which happened at 3:30 a.m. near North 3rd Street and 2nd Avenue North, officers heard more gunshots and found two people – an adult male and adult female – with non-life threatening gunshot wounds.

They were transported to Hennepin County Medical Center.

Several minutes later, an adult male arrived at North Memorial Medical Center with a non-life threatening gunshot wound. Police believe he was injured in the shooting on North 3rd Street.

3 injured in apparent shooting

In a separate news release, police said two privately owned vehicles arrived at North Memorial Medical Center around 2:18 a.m. Sunday. Two adult males and one juvenile male were suffering from gunshot wounds.

Two of the victims had non-life threatening injuries, while the third had "very serious" injuries, police said.

A shooting hadn't been reported, but Minneapolis police had been notified of a ShotSpotter activation in the area of Broadway Avenue and 4th Street, which is where officials believe the three people were injured.

Police also believe this incident is not random.

No one is in custody in connection with these three incidents. Anyone with information is asked to call police.
