A 5-year-old girl died and her father was injured in a fire at a mobile home in Ham Lake early Sunday morning.

The blaze started at the residence in the Flamingo Terrace mobile home park just after midnight, Anoka County officials said in a news release.

Authorities say Scott Andrus, 36, was home with his daughter when the fire started, and after several attempts he was able to pull Jaidyn Andrus from her bedroom, where investigators believe the fire started, WCCO reports.

She was taken to the hospital, where she later died. Her father remains hospitalized with minor injuries, KARE 11 notes.

The girl's mother, Alecia Kees, released a statement late Sunday afternoon, according to FOX 9.

"Today, we experienced a parent’s worst nightmare when our daughter, Jaidyn Grace Andrus was tragically taken from us in a house fire," Kees said. "No words can ever explain the depth of our love for her. This incident has taken an unimaginable toll on our family, our friends, and all who knew our daughter."

A GoFundMe Page has been set up to help the family with funeral costs.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Woman dies in St. Louis County fire

A woman was killed in a fire at an apartment complex in Mountain Iron Saturday.

The fire was reported at the apartment building on Raintree Drive at 6:21 a.m., the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office said in a news release. Smoke was reported coming out of an apartment on the third floor, and when law enforcement arrived at the scene they evacuated the building.

A woman, identified as 25-year-old Shavondria Owens, was found in the apartment where the smoke was reportedly coming from, the release notes. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The sheriff's office says 24 apartments were displaced, noting the Red Cross is assisting those affected by the fire.

The blaze does not appear to be suspicious, but it remains under investigation.
