A man who was injured in an ATV crash last month has died, according to the Chisago County Sheriff's Office.

On July 30, the sheriff's office responded to an ATV crash with injuries on Belle Isle Drive in Nessel Township.

Gordon Baldwin, 59, of Rush City, was the only one on the ATV. He was transported to the hospital in critical condition and on Aug. 5 he died, the sheriff's office said.

Officials believe the driver lost control and rolled his ATV due to speed and the fact that there was a plow on the front of the ATV that was digging into the pavement. He was not wearing a helmet.

As of May 27, four people have died while riding ATVs in Minnesota this year, the Minnesota DNR's website says. In two of the four incidents, "machine rollover" is listed as the type of accident. The other fatal incidents involved a driver being thrown from an ATV after it rolled and a driver hitting a tree and being thrown from the vehicle.

Last year, 11 people died in ATV crashes, the DNR notes.
