6 people killed in Wisconsin plane crash

A GoFundMe page for some of the victims has already raised $10,000.

Six people, including two school employees, were killed in a plane crash in Wisconsin over the weekend.

The Cessna 421 plane went down around 3:21 a.m. Saturday in Harmony Township, located in Price County, Wisconsin, according to MyPriceCounty.com.

The plane apparently "dropped altitude quickly and lost contact" with officials, the website says. The Journal Sentinel is reporting the pilot and air traffic controllers were talking about "local weather phenomenon" before the plane dropped off the radar.

The six adults on the plane were traveling from the Chicago area to Canada for a fishing trip. Officials haven't identified the victims, but a post from Tioga Elementary School in Illinois says Thomas DeMauro, a gym teacher at Tioga, and Charles Tomlitz, a maintenance director, were among those killed in the crash.

DeMauro's son, Kyle DeMauro, also died in the crash, a GoFundMe page created by members of the school district says.

In one day, the fundraising site had raised more than $10,000 – the goal was $500.

The National Transportation Safety Board, the Federal Aviation Administration, and the Price County Sheriff's Office are investigating the crash.
