Seven people, including four children, were injured in a head-on crash in Golden Valley Sunday.

The two vehicles collided in the area of Golden Valley Road and Bonnie Lane around 2:30 p.m. on Sunday.

One of them was carrying two adults and four children, which collided with a car driven by a single person.

All four of the children weren't wearing their seatbelts, Golden Valley Police Department said.

The two adults required extraction from the vehicle, with all seven involved taken to a local hospital.

"Please buckle up," was the message from the City of Golden Valley on Sunday.

Most Minnesotans do this, though there's still a significant number who don't.

The 2017 Minnesota Seat Belt Survey found that 92 percent of front seat occupants wear their belt.

But there can be tragic consequences for those who choose not to.

Of the 348 people who died in road crashes in Minnesota last year, 80 were not wearing their seat belt.

That was up on the 79 who weren't wearing belts out of the 392 fatalities in 2016.
