7 people arrested following drug-related shooting in Meeker County

Four people have been arrested in connection to the shooting and three others were booked into jail in relation to the discovery of drugs.

Two more people have been arrested for their alleged roles in connection to a shooting near Litchfield on Sunday night

The drug-related shooting happened just prior to 11 p.m. on the 23900 block of Highway 22, just south of Litchfield in Meeker County. The sheriff's office said the gunshot victim was transported to Meeker Memorial Hospital, then was airlifted to Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis.

"As of today, the victim was listed in critical but stable condition," the sheriff's office said Tuesday.

There have now been three 18-year-olds arrested in connection to the shooting. Originally, 18-year-old men from rural Grove City and rural Litchfield, respectively, were arrested. Then on Tuesday, the sheriff's office arrested an 18-year-old woman from rural Litchfield and a 45-year-old woman from rural Grove City.

The investigation resulted in a search warrant being executed on the 24200 block of 548th Avenue just south of Grove City, where the gun used in the shooting was found along with methamphetamine, marijuana, ecstasy and other drug paraphernalia.

That search led to the arrests of a 20-year-old from rural Grove City, a 45-year-old man from rural Litchfield, and a 48-year-old Minneapolis man.

Everyone arrested is in custody at the Meeker County Jail pending formal charges.
