8 people shot, 1 stabbed within 3 hours in Minneapolis

Late Tuesday into early Wednesday saw numerous shootings in Minneapolis, with police confirming that eight people were shot and one other victim was stabbed. 

The injuries occurred between 10 p.m. and 12:45 a.m. in what are believed to be five separate incidents, and they happened just a few days after seven people were shot – one fatally – after a fight at a bar in north Minneapolis. 

10:06 p.m. - Man shot in south Minneapolis

Police say an argument involving a group led to shots fired, with one man being hit. He was taken to a hospital by a private party where he was treated for what were believed to be a non-critical injury. The shooting happened in the 2900 block of Columbus Ave., which is a block northwest of Chicago Ave. and Lake St. 

11: 25 p.m. - 3 shot, 1 critical

Police responded to a shooting in the 1100 block of 21st Ave. N. where they found two women suffering from gunshot wounds. Investigators believe they were hit in a drive-by shooting, with one of the victims requiring a life-saving tourniquet on one of her "extremities," the police report says. 

The other victim suffered non-critical injuries, while a third victim later showed up at a hospital. 

This shooting happened a block north of West Broadway Ave. in north Minneapolis. 

11:32 p.m. - 2 men shot in north Minneapolis

Also in north Minneapolis – near the 600 block of West Broadway Ave. – two men arrived at a local hospital after suffering non-critical gunshot wounds. They told police that they were on West Broadway when someone shot at them. 

This shooting happened just across the I-94 bridge, a few blocks west of an early Sunday shooting that left six people injured and one dead. 

11:37 p.m. - Shooting near the George Floyd memorial site

Few details about this shooting are available, but police responded to an area near 38th St. and Chicago Ave. in south Minneapolis – where George Floyd was killed by police on May 25 – when they were shot. 

Both men suffered injuries that are not life-threatening and they were being treated at Hennepin County Medical Center.

12:41 a.m. - Stabbing in south Minneapolis

Police arrived to the 300 block of W. 32nd St. to find a man who'd been stabbed. The victim said he didn't know what happened as he woke up and was injured. It was a non-critical stab wound. No further information is available.
