A 7-year-old boy is recovering after a near drowning Friday afternoon, and has now been identified.

The Hennepin County Sheriff's office was called to Wirth Lake at Theodore Wirth Park in Minneapolis around 2 p.m. Friday on a report of a missing 7-year-old boy, reports the St. Paul Pioneer Press.

KSTP-TV says the boy is Keylen Rashan Thorton.

Earlier, the child's grandmother had told lifeguards that Thorton was missing. So lifeguards cleared the lake and began to search for him.

Lifeguards performed CPR on Keylen, who was unconscious, and he was taken to an area hospital where he is recovering, says the PiPress; KSTP says the boy is at North Memorial.
