84-year-old pedestrian fatally struck by vehicle in West St. Paul

Police in West. St. Paul are investigating a crash that killed an 84-year-old pedestrian. 

West. St. Paul Police Department reports that the fatal crash happened just before 10 a.m. Wednesday on the 1300 block of Marthaler Lane. Emergency personnel from West St. Paul PD, South Metro Fire and HealthEast Medical responded to the scene where they found an 84-year-old woman who had been struck by a vehicle. 

The woman was unconscious with severe trauma. She was rushed to Regions Hospital but did not survive her injuries. Her identity will be released at a later stage by the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office. 

A 57-year-old West. St. Paul woman driving the vehicle that hit the victim is cooperating with authorities. 

Crash reconstruction was led by the Minnesota State Patrol as the investigation remains active. No further information is available.
