A brightly lit holiday train is making several stops in Minnesota

The Canadian Pacific Holiday Train is making 21 stops in the state.

The holiday spirit on wheels is rolling into town.

The Canadian Pacific Holiday Train is making 21 stops in Minnesota from Dec. 4 through Dec. 13, including stops in St. Paul, Golden Valley, Hastings, Northeast Minneapolis, Glenwood and Elbow Lake.

In addition to its bright holiday lights, there will be free concert with country musician Kelly Prescott and singer-songwriter Collin James. The train is supposed to pull up shortly before each scheduled concert. (See the complete schedule here).

The concert at the St. Paul Union Depot is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 9, with general admission opening at 5:30 p.m. It's a free event, unless you want a $5 VIP ticket (plus a service fee) that allows you the best views.

And Metro Transit is offering free rides to those looking to attend the Union Depot event so people don't have to worry about finding parking.

It's for a good cause

Going to see the CP holiday train is also a way to make a donation to your local food shelf.

They company is asking for things like whole grain bread, rice, hot and cold cereal, any sort of healthy canned items, peanut butter, and more (including money donations). The CP train has donated 3.9 million pounds of food to North American food banks, according to their website.

You can also enter to win a free ride on the holiday train by submitting a photo. Check out those details, here. And you can track the train's journey on Facebook and Twitter, and using the hashtag #CPHolidayTrain.
