Actor Charlie Sheen has paid for a therapy dog for a Florida 15-year-old who was injured on an amusement park ride in 2010 in the Wisconsin Dells, the Associated Press reports.

Teagan Marti suffered brain, spine, pelvis and internal injuries in July 2010 when the Terminal Velocity free-fall ride malfunctioned at Extreme World at the Wisconsin Dells, the AP noted. A report detailed more of what went wrong, City Pages reported.

Marti initially had no use of her arms or legs but after physical therapy she can now walk with a walker. Her family says a therapy dog is being trained to turn on lights, pick up objects and be the teen’s companion.

“I’m in such disbelief,” Teagan's mother Julie Marti told the AP of Sheen's $10,000 gift. “I was crying ... What a guy. What a guy.”

Sheen told the AP he typically doesn't talk about donations, but wanted to inspire others to donate.

“I like to pay it forward,” Sheen told the AP. “People come into your orbit for a reason. You don’t always know what that is ahead of time, but if I ignore these requests then I don’t have any opportunity to see where these things lead us, or lead me.”
