Adam Fravel, ex-boyfriend of Maddi Kingsbury, arrested on murder charge
BREAKING UPDATE:
Madeline Kingsbury search: Human remains found in southeastern MN
Adam Fravel, the ex-boyfriend of Maddi Kingsbury and father to her two children, is in custody Wednesday night at the Winona County Jail on suspicion of second-degree murder.
The arrest came after human remains were found off a highway north of Mabel in southeastern Minnesota.
Kingsbury was last seen March 31.
That day, she and Fravel dropped their kids off at daycare shortly after 8 a.m. Kingsbury didn't show up for work at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, nor did she pick up her children or make other arrangements to have them cared for that day.
Winona police said Fravel told investigators he left the home in Kingsbury's van around 10 a.m. that day and returned later to find she was no longer home.
Investigators searched the van and her home, where they found Kingsbury's phone, wallet, ID and the jacket she had been wearing Friday morning. A van similar to Kingsbury's was seen on cameras driving on County Road 12 and then southbound on Highway 43 through the eastern part of Fillmore County on March 31.

Almost two weeks after the 26-year-old went missing, Fravel issued a public statement through an attorney in which he claimed his innocence.
"Over the course of the last 12 days my family and I have been subject to a myriad of accusations regarding the disappearance of the mother of my children, Maddi Kingsbury," Fravel's statement read. "During these last 12 days I have cooperated with law enforcement at every turn, including sitting down for multiple interviews with Winona County law enforcement. I did not have anything to do with Maddi’s disappearance."
Earlier this week, Fravel agreed a custody arrangement whereby his two children will stay with Kingsbury's parents for now, with the father intending on submitting a petition for full custody. Kingsbury's parents intended to do the same.
