After a brisk Friday, temperatures are expected to warm up just in time for the weekend.

The National Weather Service says it will be a sunny in the Twin Cities, with temps ranging in the upper 30s and 40s Saturday. Rain is possible later Saturday in central and northern areas.

A snow-rain mix is possible Sunday morning, but a sunny afternoon is predicted with highs reaching the mid 50s.

It looked like spring Friday with the sun shining, but it didn't feel like it in some parts of the state with below zero morning temperatures up north.

And we're not totally in the clear from winter-like weather. Snow is still possible Friday night in southeastern Minnesota.

Looking ahead, the temperatures should continue to rise. On Monday, the NWS predicts highs around 50 up north and in the 60s in the southwest.

Tuesday looks partly cloudy with lows in the 30s, and highs reaching into the 60s.

It could get warm enough Wednesday for the first thunderstorm of the year. The highs could get up to the 70s in some parts of the state.
