After police chase near Fargo, suspect claims to have COVID-19, coughs on deputy

The 25-year-old was one of three suspects arrested Sunday morning.

Three people were arrested following a police chase in far eastern North Dakota early Sunday morning. 

The pursuit began around 1:40 a.m.  when deputies with the Cass County Sheriff's Office attempted to stop a vehicle that led law enforcement on a chase northeast of Casselton, which is located about 10 miles west of Fargo. 

Deputies used spike strips to help end the chase, and as a trio of suspects were arrested, one of the men "was claiming to be COVID-19 positive and intentionally coughing towards the transporting deputy," a release from the Cass County Sheriff's Office said. 

That suspect, a 25-year-old man from West Fargo, is being held on pending charges of terrorizing, reckless endangerment, fleeing an officer in a motor vehicle, fictitious registration and driving with a suspended license. 

The other suspects, a 25-year-old man from Fargo and a 19-year-old man from West Fargo, are also facing multiple charges. .
