Alcohol-fueled brawl in Bemidji leaves man dead, 2 injured
Authorities say a group of "extremely intoxicated individuals" that got out of control Thursday night resulted in the death of a northern Minnesota man.
Beltrami County Sheriff's deputies and Leech Lake tribal officers responded to a home in Ten Lakes Township near Bemidji around 6:30 p.m. to find several people injured and bleeding, KARE 11 says.
The Associated Press reports 44-year-old Leslie Headbird was beaten so severely that he was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital. Headbird lived at the home where the fight broke out, according to KFGO.
Another man and a woman were also hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.
Two suspects are in custody, a 19-year-old man and a 29-year-old man. Both Cass Lake men are being held in the Beltrami County Jail for 2nd degree murder and assault.
