An Alexandria man died in a single-vehicle crash in southwest Minnesota Friday morning.

According to the Lyon County Sheriff's Office, the crash happened around 11:20 a.m. on the 2300 block of County Road 24. Authorities say a 2011 Chevy Impala headed west entered the eastbound lane and then went into the ditch and eventually rolled.

Killed in the crash was a 40-year-old Alexandria man, whose identity has not been released. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Road conditions at the time of the crash were dry and an investigation into the cause is ongoing.

The Minnesota Department of Public Safety issued a release on Saturday recognizing that more than 100 people have died on Minnesota roads so far in 2019.
