Police in St. Cloud are investigating after a 24-year-old man was shot dead in an alley over the weekend.

The homicide was discovered after police were dispatched to an alley in the 300 block of 4th Ave. S. at 3:34 a.m. Saturday. They were responding to a report of a person with a gun, and while en route they were informed that someone in a vehicle had been shot in the alley between 4th and 5th avenues.

On arrival, officers found a 24-year-old man sitting in the driver's seat, having suffered a gunshot wound. Officers attempted life-saving measures before an ambulance transported the victim to the hospital where he died.

Investigators have determined that there was an altercation outside of an apartment party that led to the shooting. There were several people at the scene of the shooting, many of whom, including the suspect(s), fled when shots were fired.

Police do not believe the shooting was random.

Anyone with information about the homicide is asked to contact St. Cloud Police Department at 320-251-1200, or call Tri-County Crime Stoppers at 800-255-1301.
