UPDATE 11:35 A.M.

Amber Alert suspect Jeffrey Lo was found in a wooded area Hinton Ave. and 70th St. and he was taken into custody without incident. Both children "appear to be unharmed" and are being reunited with their mother, Cottage Grove police said in an update.

It's believed that Lo was waiting in a minivan outside his ex-girlfriend's residence, and when she got into the van with the children he was able to surprise her and take off. The mother was able to get out of the vehicle on 80th St. near a Dairy Queen, at which point he fled at a high rate of speed.

Lo, who is the father of the children, was not armed with any weapons when he was arrested.

The investigation is ongoing and formal charges should be filed within a "couple of days," police said.

UPDATE 10:35 A.M.

Jeffrey Lo has been arrested and both girls, ages 1 and 3, are safe, according to Cottage Grove Police Department.

"The suspect has been taken into custody and the children are safe and unharmed. CGPD would like to thank residents and law enforcement partners for their assistance. We’d also like to thank the media."

More information will be available at an 11:30 a.m. media briefing in Cottage Grove.

Cottage Grove Police Department says it is "no longer looking for the van connected to this Amber Alert, but continues to look for the suspect and children at this time."

There are reports of a heavy police presence in the area of 70th St. S. and Hardwood Ave. S. in Cottage Grove, and police say "if you see a large police presence, please leave the immediate area."

A KARE 11 reporter tweeted video of a police checking vehicles as they go through 73rd St. S. and Hardwood Ave.

An Amber Alert has been issued as authorities look for a father who has taken his two children from Cottage Grove.

Jeffrey Lo is described as an Asian man, 5'5" tall, 180 lbs with brown eyes.

He is believed to be driving a tan 2004 Toyota Sienna minivan with Minnesota plates 708XEM, which belongs to the mother.

He took his two Asian daughters, aged 1 and 3 years old at around 6:34 a.m.

That's after he allegedly assaulted the mother of his children in Cottage Grove.

He is believed to be armed. The Minnesota BCA says do not approach him if you see him, but call 911.

This story will be updated as more information comes in.
