Police cancel AMBER Alert after boy located safe in Brooklyn Center
The boy at the center of this weekend's AMBER Alert in the Twin Cities has fortunately been recovered, though the suspect in the incident appears to still be at large.
The boy, 1, was in the back of a white Jeep Grand Cherokee when it was stolen in Minneapolis early Saturday afternoon; about two hours later, the vehicle was located in Brooklyn Center with the child still inside.
According to the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, the boy was "found safe":
According to Minneapolis Police Department (MPD), he was "transported to an area medical facility to be checked out, which is standard procedure," while the vehicle will "be processed for forensic evidence."
An MPD release says the Jeep was left at the entrance of a church with the engine still running, the suspect having fled.
It was a "citizen caller" who spotted the car and reported it, the department says.
No description of the suspect was given in the AMBER Alert.
