Another weekend killing in St. Paul as driver shot dead in Summit-University
Police in St. Paul are investigating a second killing in the city over the weekend.
The incident was reported just before 11:30 p.m. Sunday, with officers arriving to find an injured driver in a car at the intersection of St. Anthony Avenue and Dale Street North, in the Summit-University neighborhood.
The man had suffered an apparent gunshot injury, and later died after being taken to Regions Hospital.
The shooting is believed to have happened at the area of Central Avenue West and Kent Street North.
A second victim from the same incident later showed up at Regions Hospital with injuries caused by broken glass.
No suspect has been identified by St. Paul PD at this stage, with the Ramsey County Medical Examiner set to identify the victim at a later time.
It's the second killing reported in St. Paul over the weekend, after a woman was arrested over the death of a man at a city apartment on Saturday.
It's the 26th homicide in the city reported this year, the highest number in the past decade, and a number that is prompting Mayor Melvin Carter to bring forward a supplemental budget spending proposal focusing on public safety.
