Blowing snow, icy roads and high speeds are creating treacherous road conditions in the Red River Valley, and the wintry conditions are expected to blow in a westerly direction across the state by Monday.

Forum Communications reports there have been dozens of crashes and rollovers in the Fargo-Moorhead area. While the snow has stopped, it continues to swirl and create hazardous driving conditions. Winter weather advisories, blizzard warnings and blizzard watches have been issued for counties in northwestern Minnesota and parts of North Dakota.

The Duluth News Tribune reports another round of snow may dump a half-foot of accumulation on areas north of Duluth by the time the storm system departs that part of the state on Monday.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory that will last until 4 p.m. Monday. It includes the Iron Range north to the Boundary Waters and areas along the North Shore of Lake Superior. Gusty north winds are expected.
