Apartment complex fire leaves 1 dead in Montevideo

One person was killed in an apartment fire in west-central Minnesota early Tuesday. 

Montevideo police and fire departments responded to a 911 call at 1:13 a.m. with the caller reporting a fire at the Lincoln Apartment complex located at 17th St. and Lincoln Ave. in Montevideo. 

Firefighters got the fire under control and found a female victim inside the apartment. She was transported by ambulance to Chippewa County Medical Center where she died. Her identity has not been released. 

All apartment occupants have been displaced as the complex has been secured due to smoke damage. Montevideo PD and the State Fire Marshal are investigating the fire.
