April the giraffe finally had her baby

It's the moment we've been waiting, and waiting, and waiting for.

It's the moment people have been waiting, and waiting, and waiting for. April the giraffe has finally had her baby.

Animal Adventure Park in New York announced via one very enthusiastic video Saturday morning that April was going into labor. Then right around 9 a.m. it happened – live on the internet with more than a million people watching, ABC reports.

If you missed the birth, you can watch it live here.

The zoo has plenty of other cute videos from immediately after the birth, too. Like this adorable one that looks like it might have captured some of baby's first clumsy steps.

And the original livestream is still going, if you'd like to watch what's happening live.

It's about time, right?

Considering the livestream has been up since February, some people have been getting pretty impatient.

In fact, Patch says some people started wondering if April's pregnancy was just some big hoax. So the zoo had to address that on social media to show that the giraffe was, indeed, pregnant.

To help ease people's impatience, WCCO compiled a bunch of other zoo giraffes that had been born while people were busy waiting for April's baby.

Patch says zookeepers originally guessed the calf would be born March 31, though. So really, April's two weeks later than expected.

About the baby

We don't know much about the baby, yet. The zoo says it's expected to weigh about 150 pounds and be about 6 feet tall.

Giraffes can grow to be over 18 feet tall and can weigh more than a ton, according to National Geographic.

Once the calf is born, Animal Adventure Park plans to hold a contest to name it.

This is April's fourth calf.
