Aramark laying off more than 200 workers from 3M facilities

3M is no longer working with Aramark as of April 30, prompting the layoffs.

More than 200 Aramark workers will be permanently laid off from 3M's facilities in Maplewood and Cottage Grove.

Aramark Services notified the State of Minnesota via WARN letter, as is required by law, that it will permanently lay off 212 workers on April 30.

The company provides food service, facilities and uniform services to companies, as well as hospitals, universities, school districts, and stadiums.

The layoffs come because 3M has decided to no longer use Aramark's services at its campuses, so Aramark has been forced to lay off everyone assigned to work there, the letter says.

However, those impacted by the layoffs "will be allowed to apply for open positions offered by 3M's new facility and services provider," the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) notes.
