Armed and dangerous suspect flees shooting in Hibbing; 1 person killed, 1 injured

One person was shot dead on Christmas Day and another was injured.

One person was killed and another injured in a Christmas Day shooting in Hibbing, Minnesota. 

According to the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA), the shooting was reported around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 2400 block of 3rd Avenue East in Hibbing. 

Responding officers found two victims suffering from gunshot wounds. One male was taken to Fairview Range Medical Center and pronounced dead while the other was treated at the hospital for a non-life-threatening injury and later released. 

The BCA has identified 29-year-old Jerome Diante Spann as the suspect in the shooting, saying he fled the crime scene with an unidentified man and might've drove to St. Paul where he Spann has relatives. 

Spann is considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached. 

Anyone with information that could lead to Spann's arrest is asked to call 911 or 218-263-3601. 

The identity of the person killed in the shooting will be released following an autopsy by the Midwest Medical Examiner.
