Armed suspect killed in Minneapolis officer-involved shooting

An armed suspect is dead after an overnight officer-involved shooting in Minneapolis.

According to Minneapolis Police Department spokesperson John Elder, officers responded to two separate Shot Spotter activations on the 1100 block of 25th Ave. N. at 2:49 a.m. Friday. 

Police received word while en route to the scene that a woman had been shot on the 2400 block of Emerson Ave. N. When police arrived they found the shooting victim and then were encountered by an armed man. 

Shots were fired during the confrontation and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

No police officers were injured in the incident and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is leading the investigation. 

The condition of the woman who was shot is unknown, although KSTP reports that she was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
