Anger at the death of a woman in a police cell in Texas has grown following the release of a video showing the traffic stop that led to her arrest. The video shows Sandra Bland being pulled over for failing to show a turn signal, but then was involved in an argument with a police officer when he told her to put out a cigarette.

Report: Charleston shooting suspect will face federal hate crime charges

Dylann Roof, the man charged in South Carolina with the murders of nine African-Americans at a historic Charleston church last month, will face federal hate crime charges, according to reports on Wednesday. The federal charges against Roof are expected to be made public later.

'World's oldest' Quran found in England

Fragments of what is thought to be the world's oldest copy of the Quran have been found in the library of the University of Birmingham in England. Radiocarbon dating puts the manuscript at around 1,370 years old, around the time of the founding of Islam by the Prophet Muhammad.
