Police have arrested a suspected in connection with a series of sexual assaults in Minneapolis.

It was announced on Sunday that an Anoka County man has been taken into custody in connection with the assaults, in which he allegedly targeted young women in the Dinkytown and Marcy-Holmes neighborhoods over several years.

Minneapolis Police Department has put out several appeals this year alone to find the culprit, who is being linked to incidents dating as far back as 2015 in Minneapolis and 2013 in other locations.

Some of the cases have involved attempted kidnapping or burglary as well as sexual assault, and it prompted last month the release of sketches of the suspect.

The suspect is being held at Hennepin County Jail. His name and details are expected to be confirmed on Monday when he is charged.

He was arrested on Friday, with police saying they received multiple tips as a result of their appeals for information.
