Police investigating the sexual assault of a young boy at a park in Brooklyn Park have made an arrest.
Brooklyn Park PD announced Friday that a man was arrested in connection with the assault at Willowstone Park on Wednesday. He was taken into custody at his home, which is "in close proximity" to the park.
Police described him as "uncooperative" during the arrest, alleging he resisted arrest.
He's being held in Hennepin County Jail.
Police said the sexual assault happened around 9 p.m. on May 26 at Willowstone Park, with the family of a 6-year-old boy saying they were having a party at the park and couldn't find him.
"A family member then located the child coming out of a porta potty followed by an unknown adult male," Dep. Chief Mark Bruley said in a news release.
The man is expected to be formally charged in connection with the incident on Tuesday.
"The Police Department extends a sincere thank you to all the community members who assisted in this investigation," a release from the police department said.
