An arrest warrant has been issued for a suspected shooter in two separate incidents in Cloquet.

Cloquet Police Department obtained the arrest warrant Monday for 26-year-old Nicholas Joseph Ammesmaki, who has been identified by police as a suspect in two shootings that happened shortly after midnight on Monday, May 17.

Police received a report of several shots fired at 227 Scotty Drive in Cloquet just after midnight Monday, followed by a report of another shooting around 12:30 a.m. at 973 Ozhigaw Road in Cloquet.

No one was injured in the first spout of gunfire, but a 27-year-old Cloquet man suffered a gunshot wound to the leg in the second incident. The man was taken to Essentia Hospital in Duluth for care.

Investigators say the shootings are related, with Ammesmaki named the suspect. His whereabouts are unknown, though police say he was last seen leaving the scene of one of the shootings in a silver 2003 Pontiac Bonneville with Minnesota license plates DWL-944.

"Do not approach Ammesmaki as he is considered armed and dangerous," police say.
