A 25-year-old man has been charged in the brutal stabbing death of a 21-year-old on West River Parkway in Minneapolis.

Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman issued a release Friday noting the second-degree murder charge against Abdirahman Yusef, 25, of Minneapolis.

Yusef is accused of stabbing Burka O. Mohammed near West River Parkway and 3rd Ave. in Minneapolis. Mohammed's body was found by police around 11:50 p.m. Aug. 12, with paramedics pronouncing him dead at the scene.

Mohammed was stabbed 14 times, including seven stab wounds to the chest, three to his back and one to his neck, according to the release.

Investigators were able to use surveillance video and photos from the scene to identify people with Mohammed the night of the killing. Witnesses also informed police that Yusuf was "behaving aggressively towards Mohammed before stabbing him multiple times," the criminal complaint says.

Police then matched Yusef's profile from surveillance video to photos on Facebook, with Yusef later admitting to the deadly assault.

The release says prosecutors are aiming to have a judge set Ysef's bail at $1 million.
