An ATV crash in the town of Shafer has left the teenage driver in critical condition.
The 15-year-old driver was operating the ATV alone when the crash occurred around 10 a.m. Thursday, according to the Chisago County Sheriff's Office.
Bystanders provided livesaving efforts until the Shafer teenager was transported to a local trauma center, where she is in critical condition.
Minnesota law requires drivers to have obtained a safety certificate and to be at least 16 years old in order to operate an ATV alone. A standard driver's license is required to drive if crossing roadways or operating on the road right-of-way.
The cause of the crash is still being investigated, authorities said.
