ATV driver seriously injured in collision with deer

The 61-year-old is receiving treatment in the Twin Cities.

A man is in a serious condition in a Twin Cities hospital after his ATV collided with a deer in northern Minnesota.

The collision happened in rural Outing, Cass County, and was reported to police at 9:22 p.m. on Thursday.

Cass County deputies arrived and found injured 61-year-old David Gifford, of Maple Grove.

He had been driving a 2015 Honda TRX500 ATV when he struck a deer, causing his vehicle to roll.

After being treated on the scene, Gifford was airlifted to a hospital in the Twin Cities for further treatment on serious injuries.
