The body of a woman missing in northern Minnesota since Nov. 11 was found by the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office on Wednesday.
The body of Janeen Bauer Peters, 57, was discovered around 10:30 a.m., approximately 500 yards from her vehicle near County Hwy. 2, in Lake County, northeast Minnesota.
Peters was reported missing by her family earlier this month and she was last seen Nov. 11 driving north of Duluth on North Shore Drive.
It's believed that she was at a Duluth restaurant on Nov. 13 but family and friends weren't able to make contact with her.
Her vehicle was abandoned and locked shut in an area "where it wasn't easily noticed," the the release says. The vehicle was also covered in snow and there were no fresh tracks near it.
In the initial missing person report from the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office, it said Peterson recently lived in Wisconsin and authorities suspected she might be in the Eau Claire or Grantsburg area.
The Midwest Medical Examiner's Office will release Peters' cause of death after conducting an autopsy.
