Authorities ID woman found dead in Minneapolis street

The 51-year-old died from multiple blunt force injuries.

The identity of a woman found dead in the middle of a Minneapolis street has been identified.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office confirmed that Colleen Casserly, 51, died from "multiple blunt force injuries."

She was found at 31st Avenue NE and Columbia Avenue NE in Minneapolis in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

At this stage, how she came to have suffered the fatal injuries remains under investigation by Minneapolis Police Department.

MPD's traffic investigation division is assisting homicide detectives on the case.

Per standard procedure, nearby buildings were checked for possible surveillance video and the Minneapolis Crime Lab searched the scene for evidence.

 Tributes have been paid by family members on her Facebook page, with her sister writing: "May you rest easy now.... You will be forever missed."
