Authorities have officially identified the man shot dead following a confrontation with police in Minneapolis on Sunday.

Chiasher Fong Vue, 52, died from multiple gunshot wounds at North Memorial Medical Center, according to the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office.

He was shot by Minneapolis police officers following a confrontation at his home at 3114 Thomas Ave. N.

The property has since been left riddled with bullet holes after police opened fire, with Vue having allegedly emerged from the house with a gun which he pointed and fired at police.

FOX 9 reports that a property across the street was also struck by bullets, supposedly from Vue's gun.

Citing a source, the Star Tribune reports that as many as 9 officers may have been placed on administrative leave in relation to the shooting, which is standard procedure after officer-involved shootings.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is carrying out the investigation.
