The Hennepin County Sheriff's Water Patrol recovered a female body from the backwater area between the Mississippi and Minnesota rivers near the Mendota Bridge, the Pioneer Press said.

KSTP was on the scene after people fishing reported seeing a body around 11 a.m. Wednesday.

The Hennepin County medical examiner will determine the identity of the victim and cause of death.

There are two young women reported missing in the area, the sheriff's office tells the Star Tribune.

On May 14, 16-year-old Erika Borgstrom of Hammond, Wis. jumped from the Stone Arch Bridge in Minneapolis with her boyfriend, 18-year-old Dakotah Coach. Borgstrom is presumed drowned, but her body is still missing.

Law enforcement and volunteers have also been searching for 24-year-old Mandy Matula of Eden Prairie, who's been missing for about a month.

Matula was last seen with former boyfriend David Roe, 24, who shot himself just before a police interview. He later died.

Police said Matula's blood was found on a jacket in Roe's SUV.
